Madinat Jumeriah is a monument of awe-inspiring proportions. The complex comprises two luxurious hotels, the Al Qasr and Mina A’Salam, which are surrounded by a collection of traditional summer houses known as Dar Al Masyaf, all of which are connected by over 3 kilometres of meandering waterways. Styled to resemble an Arabian citadel, the result is a breathtaking combination of architecture, Venetian-esque waterways and gardens. It is a city within a city, a self-contained sanctuary of Arabia style with its own 75 shop souk and an incredible 45 restaurants and bars, sat beside the sea.

Al Qasr, the Palace Hotel, is the centre-piece of the resort and has been designed to reflect the Sheikh’s summer residence. It is grandiose and impressive with its elegantly elevated situation. Mina A’Salam, which translates as Harbour of Peace, is built around a beach-side harbour and the terraces, promenades and restaurants emphasise access to the waterside, from which traditional water taxis deliver guests to all parts of the resort. The courtyard houses of old Arabia have inspired the beautifully designed, stand alone traditional summer houses. They represent the pinnacle of luxury within the resort and suit those seeking a more intimate hideaway with Madinat Jumeirah. All of the houses are accessible by waterways or paths which wind their way through the richly landscaped gardens.

There is a large kids club allowing parents time to enjoy the Six Senses Spa or partake in water sports off the beach. Being part of the Jumeirah chain, guests here also have unlimited free access to the Wild Wadi water park which can be reached by walking along the boardwalk that connects the hotels.
To us it demonstrates once again how Dubai is constantly looking to innovate and improve on what’s been built before both in terms of the overall wow factor and the detail.
