Born in Mexico, and then moving to India when he was four years old, Dhruv Baker’s childhood had a huge influence on his passion for food, and fostered his appreciation for layered, spicy flavours that he now uses in his cooking.
His delight in spicy, colourful food with a strong eastern influence made its impact on the judges, with Gregg Wallace describing him as having the ‘palate of an angel’. Thrilling the judges with his unique Indian and western fusion food, plus his complex use of spice, Dhruv won the competition with a final menu that included a trio of desserts; one of them being the unforgettable masala tea ice-cream.Dhruv’s next challenge is using his food expertise and local knowledge to lead tours for MasterChef Travel - both in Mexico, where he was born, and India, where he spent his childhood. Join him as he ventures through a myriad of spices and explores the layered, fragrant flavours of both countries.
