LONDOLOZI
Londolozi is one of the longest established safari operations in the Sabi Sands and without doubt one of the best. It is still run by the Varty family who established it nearly ninety years ago together with the Taylor family. It is very apparent how seriously they take the responsibility to preserve and protect this area and its animals. The game viewing is consistently exceptional which in turn may also be down to the excellence of the guides of which they’re justly proud. The quality of the hosting here is quite remarkable and anyone staying is made to feel like a genuine guest rather than a paying client. For all the other factors your abiding memory is of being part of the Londolozi family for the duration of your stay and many people return for repeat visits. It was the first lodge in Africa to be accorded Relais and Chateaux status which was granted in 1990 and the food is a highlight of any stay.
There are actually five camps here looking over the perennial Sand river but such is the design that you have little sense of there being many other people around. They have a large traversing area of 16000 hectares compared to some lodges so each vehicle can have large areas to explore on their own and the variety of terrain also adds to the experience. The five camps are in ascending cost order Varty, Founders, Tree/Pioneer and the Private Granite Suites. There are various differences between them which we can discuss but the quality of accommodation and food in all of them is extremely high.
Upon returning from morning game drives, guests at Londolozi can now visit the on–site Photographic Studio where they receive one–on‐one post production tuition and have the opportunity to print their images on wide–format canvas. In addition the Photographic Studio also offers guests a multitude of professional level photographic bodies, lenses and accessories to rent. Gone are the days of lugging heavy camera gear throughout your international travel, now it’s as simple as pre–booking your gear and finding it ready for use upon your arrival at the lodge.
As you might expect these camps run at high occupancy rates so we would recommend booking as far ahead as possible.

For the prefect end to your trip we would recommend combining your safari with a few days at either the beautifully romantic Kaya Mawa on the shores of Lake Malawi or the luxurious Tongabezi Lodge on the banks of the Zambezi River.
